The city also enjoys being close to a variety of conveniences. The nearest major airport is Long Beach Airport (LGB), which has domestic flights from Long Beach and is also 22 miles away. They have two local hospitals Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital and Whittier Hospital Medical Center, which also happen to be the top to employers in the city with 2,600 and 850 employees respectively. Higher education institutions in the area include Rio Hondo College, which lies just outside the city, and historic Whittier College.

Whittier has many attractions, including Pio Pico State Historic Park, home of the last Mexican Governor of California. Whittier also has four Historic Residential District including Hadley/Greenleaf District, Central Park District, College Hills District, and Earlham Historic District. The Whittier Historical Society and Museum offer an archives room, ongoing programs and tours.

All of these features make Whittier a great place to buy or sell multifamily investment rental properties such as duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes and larger commercial apartment buildings. This vibrant, diverse community has great attractions, a healthy work industry, and many renters.
